IE opens a new window and closes the previous

When I click on a link or try to go to a new page IE will open it in a new window and close the previous window. I can't use the back button to get to the previous window when that happens. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

It looks like you may have browser corruption or spyware/malware.


Trying running some anti-spyware programs like Lavasoft's Ad-aware and Spybot - Search and Destroy.

If still not fixed, try reinstalling IE...


But, in my opinion, Firefox is better.

. In IE, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab
Uncheck 'resuse Windows for launching shortcuts.'
