Have just finished installing Server 2003 SP1 onto a Dell Poweredge 2800. I used the Dell Installation bootable CD to prepare the install.

I'm now wishing to carry out the Windows Update, but the server will not access the page.
Further investigation has shown that IE will not load ANY HTTP page, but would happily list FTP.MIRROR.AC.UK
Its not a proxy issue, as its running thru the same proxy as other machines in the workshop that are working fine.
The Security settings for the "Internet" zone are set to high, as the server demands.
It will not go to HTTP sites even when they are in the "Trusted" zone, with that zone's security set to low.

The Windows Firewall has been set to Off, and the server is able to recieve ping returns from sites it won't display.

I tried Firefox as an alternative, to see if it was IE or something else at fault, and Firefox will also not display HTTP pages.

Has got us all here rather stumped, any suggestions gratefully welcomed.

You may check the "Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings..."

I had a similar problem but it only occurs in IE and not firefox.
