Got my parents a laptop for Xmas. Emachine running XP home. I loaded up all the latest Microsoft stuff up to and including Service Pak 2. They are using Verizon DSL with a wireless router connecting to this laptop. When they boot the laptop up it shows a good wireless connection and they have a connection to Verizon DSL(11.0 mbs). They are able to get to 1 or 2 websites before they start getting DNS errors pages. At this point they can't get to any other websites unless they reboot and start all over again. I know their connection must be good because I had them load VNC and I can connect to their machine without any problems so they must have a good connection. Any ideas why IE is having problems after a couple of minutes of connection? They have also already downloaded spysweeper and antivirus software and all is clean. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For PPoE DSL connections it is critical that the MTU value be set appropriately. 1492 is the most common value for ADSL, and is used by Verizon.

. If available, set the wireless router MTU value to 1492

. Use DrTCP to adjust your wireless adapter's MTU value to 1492:
