On one of my computers I cannot see the banner image on a website I have set up ( I can however see it when looking at the site on my other computer. What IE setting have I got wrong?
Feeling very stupid right about now... Thanks

Is this a third-party advertising banner? Is spybot installed on the machine that doesn't display the banner?

No, it's the website's banner (as defined in the css file) and Spybot is not installed on either machine.

This might sound like a dumb question but just for the heck of it thought id post it. Are you sure Flash is installed? Also go to internet options under tools on internet explorer. Click the advanced tab look under multimedia. Check to make sure animations, videos and pics are checked. Like I said this isnt much but they can cause it not to show. If you know you have it then ignore this as if it wasnt posted lol.

Thanks for the reply.
Flash is installed and the options are checked.
i'm stumped

I just remembered something. Certain firewalls and programs will remove banners from browsers. I believe zone alarm had a feature of that. So might want to check your software firewalls/pop up blockers you have. Just trying to think of any ideas that might be causing this lol.

Ah ha!!! It's Norton Internet Security... now to find out where I change the setting.
Thanks

It's the ad blocking element of NIS. I wouldn't have thought that the banner would be viewd as an ad. Live and learn.
Thanks again.

Good tip, I'll try that and report back. Thanks

I have the same issue. Only had reports form people using IE, not FF or Netscape. Its been driving me batty.

Did you fix the issue or are you still having it? Are you using firefox or internet explorer?

I just went through all the javascript in my banner rotation & renamed banner to banana. I did the same with the names of the gif images themselves. I will find out tommorrow if it helped. I downloaded a trial version of a program called adstopper & it removed banners, including one in my header that had the word banner in its gif name. I renamed that one, & it reappeared.

I have windows xp and for the past week my computer will not display any popups ie links etc. It starts to load and then nothing, just a half displayed outline. Then you cannot close it only by doing ctrl, alt, del. I even turned off my popup blocker but it didn't help.My ISP says it is a browser problem and my computer is no longer under warranty,so no help there. Please help!!!

Perhaps if you post this to a NEW thread in this forum you may get more help. :)

If it's just a browser problem, just reinstall it. Better still download firefox which is free. It is faster than internet explorer. I would not go back. I only use IE for microsofts site where they insist on you using it to access updates.
