Hi All,

I needed to reinstall IE6 on my NT 4.0 SERVER and got the following errors:

(1) Unable to find finction DllRegisterServer" in file c:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\COMCAT.DLL.

(2) An error occurred while setting up c:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\ASCTRLS.OCX. The error has been loggeg. The installation will continue.

(3)(2) An error occurred while setting up c:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DXTRANS.DLL. The error has been loggeg. The installation will continue.

And finally:

Dr. Watson For Windows NT

An application error occured and and application log is being generated - RUNDLL.EXE - EXCEPTION: Access Violation (Oxc0000005) Address 0x0291bb30.

Does anyone know why I am getting these errors and what impact they wour have with my system ? How do I solve them ?

Appreciate any help and thanks in advance for the help.

All it says though is......

CAUSE
This issue can occur if the Comcat.dll file is damaged or the wrong version number.


RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, rename the Comcat.dll file in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder, and then reinstall Internet Explorer.

If you remove Internet Explorer before reinstalling, be sure to rename The Comcat.dll file after removing Internet Explorer.
