IE homepage keeps on switching to 'about:blank'

I have this problem whereby on particular domain users their IE homepage keeps on switching from their designated homepage to 'about:blank'. I have run virus scans and spyware scans on their machines (in one case removing 1700+ suspect files via a spyware sweep) and all that mess - still no luck. When I manually change the default homepage, it works until you end that IE session, then it revertys back. We have no group policies running that would do anything like this and it only started happening recently.
Any ideas?????
