Hi

Since I upgraded my Win98 to IE5.5 SP2, each time I use IE the compouter freezes for about 2 seconds, so if I´m hearing music it skips and it´s really annoying. The hanging is complete: the mouse stops responding, you can´t switch windows, no key is working, etc.

I tried upgrading to IE6, but the problem remained, so I switched back to IE5.5.

The problem appears when you hit a link or open a new window. It seems like everytime the browser requests something over the net, the system hangs for 2 seconds completely. It has no problems when the page is completely downloaded and you´re reading it. It's not a problem with the conection or the network card as I have no problems when using the Opera browser or other programs connecting to the net.

Any ideas are welcome

Thanks

Antonio

Assuming your ISP connection or modem speed is adequate and you have enough available memory then your player may not be configured correctly. I don't listen to the radio or streaming audio very often but perhaps the buffers are adjustable and could be increased in size.

The real reason I jumped in here to post was that with my AV(McAfee) in systray I had the same problem..They sometimes are set to scan every webpage and can interfere with the audio...The tray utility also scans other operations that could interfere. I disabled mine and things cleared up..I believe this can happen with almost all of the AV utilities. If still no joy perhaps check your firewall or any of the other Winsock using applications.

Good Luck

Just tried to use your test page but it shows an error saying that my browser is not supported. Sorry.

It´s not a problem with winamp or streaming, and in fact is not a problem of anything but IE as everything works fine if I don´t open IE. That means having several windows explorer, Opera, winamp, zonealarm firewall, msn messenger and sometimes word or excel, all at the same time, without any problem. But the whole computer freezes for 2-3 seconds when I start IE, and when I click a link or write anything in the direction bar. Once the page is charged, everything goes ok, but if it has to reload or get a new banner or open a pop-ad windows, it happens again, and I can´t do anything with the computer till it´s finished. Thank you anyways.
