IE hangs on opening displaying either a white screen or grey square. Does not utilize CPU and locks up. Seems to be a problem with versions 5.0 onwards and is not OS dependant.

Does not appear to be a WNS issue as proxy server IP address is used rather than the name.

IE works OK for a couple of days then falls over.

Any Ideas?

Also, got anything like Google toolbar or Comet Cursor on the machines? If so, take 'em off.

Finally, make sure the URLMON.DLL file is properly registered.

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type "Regsvr32 urlmon.dll" without quotes, and then
click OK.
3. When prompted with the DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded
message, click OK.

I was going to start a new thread but...I have a similar problem lately...I can not download anything! I can't even downlaod that link in that article that carrr mentioned abouve. I can't figure it out.

leonec,

Make sure you can download...i.e. go to Tools, Internet Options, Security, under Downloads, make sure Download fonts and Download files are enabled.
