When i first start IE 6.0, on my xp sp2 machine i receive a dns error. If i hit refresh the home page loads and all appears to be working. If I don't browse for 5 - 10 minutes and try to go somewhere else it happens again. I only have 1 copy of wsock32.dll in my system32 folder.

What if you download another browser such as Firefox, does it have the same problem? Has it always been this way?

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

I did not downlaod Firefox but that is a good idea. The computer has always run slow, celeron 755mhz, but this problem has just occured in the past few months.

Try it and report back. Might be a browser issue, you can also check your DNS settings (if you are using dhcp, try setting a static IP, gateway, and DNS on your computer). Let us know what happens with Firefox.
