Using IE 5.5, periodically when patrons are using Yahoo or Hotmail they will receive a message that they have been logged out. There seems to be no overt action that cause this timing out, and the length of time logged on seems irrelevant. Needless to say, patrons, who type in an email just to get a message that they are logged out when they try to send, are restless. This problem arises a small percentage of the time. I have wiped out the Cookie folder's contents and the problem again returned. Any ideas?

go Tools->Internet Options->Security->Custom Level->Cookies and see what options you have. Make sure all cookie stuff is set to enable or prompt and restart IE.

It may also be a problem with yahoo.com website, since IE5.5 is new, the programmers may not have guessed certain variable that cause this timeout error....

good luck

Thanks for the advice. Cookie settings are good. I may have to try a reinstall. What a hassle. IE 5.5 is speedy and has some nice additions (eg print preview) but the email sessions expiring is simply intolerable here at the library. Back to Netscape if we cannot pin down the problem.
