I've a user with a laptop that when connects to internet with IE6 refuses to browse more that 2/3 sites. After that it just does nothing. Closing IE and stating again same thing.

A quick try with Firefox and all is OK.

I've tried all I can think of, anyone any suggestions?

Laptop is running XP SP2.

Knowing the member of staff I'd not be surprised if this was the problem.

Think I'll teach him a lesson and reformat his laptop.

Check the Event Log to see if there are any TCP/Ip error messages.

Sorry bcaster perhaps my original post was poorly worded (no scrap that, now I've read it, it definitely was).

It's not a matter of downloads its opening pages in IE (Google as home page) do a search, click one of the links (OK) then try to click a link on that page and nothing. No slow loading the thing justs sits there.

Didn't have time to do more than get him going with Firefox so that he could do some stuff as it was late Friday. So come Easter its probaly easier/quicker to reformat.

Persoanlly I'm fairly convinced its some malware.
