Hi,

I don't understand the IE cache settings. The setting is automatic. What does this mean????

Does it mean that pages are only downloaded from the server every day or every hour. Or does it ask for a small amount of info from the server which tells it whether the page on the server is new etc..

Please let me know. Or point me to some documentation.
Thanks

Chris

Sorry,

I couldn't seem to find the document you are talking about.

Can u paste the link at all?

In a nutshell: When you type in the address of a website, IE checks your history to see if it's stored there. If it is, then IE quickly compares the copy it has to the "live" one. If they are the same, then IE shows you the cached page instead. If they are different, then IE loads the new page, and it becomes resident in your cache.

Context help (with the arrow) in the IE settings popup has a good explanation ...
