Trying to connect to an Intranet server or a different Network.....I can connect using the IP of the "remote" server and it appears to work OK....

I've set-up a static route and thought I would be user friendly by adding a named entry in our WINS servers, but cant get the connection to establish using the name....??? If I do a "ping" on the name the response shows that name resolution is completing successfully....???

Any ideas....???

thanks.....

Anybody seen this before.....????

Any help would be appreciated...!!!

thanks..........

You say it's resolving via WINS, but how about DNS? Do you get the NetBIOS name when you use ping -a, or a fully qualified name?

Are there similar named entries on the DNS server? In the client's DNS settings?

ICA uses DNS for name resolution.

I hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

I've always got this to work fine in the past with only WINS Servers, we haven't any DNS on our local LAN...???

The name resolution thing is a bit weird though...if I do PING SERVERNAME it returns the IP Address of the server as input on the WINS, if I do either a TRACERT or PING -a on the name it returns the name as "something different"..!!!

I'm not entirely sure of the Remote Network set-up, although I now think it's a combination of 2 things....

I think there must be a DNS server "somewhere" which is resolving the name correctly, the problem I think is that there is an UNDERSCORE in this name, IE apparently doesn't recognise underscores within a name...??? I think this is stopping the page displaying...???

I think NT does a combination of searches when resolving names...I understood the search as first try DNS, then WINS, then Netbios, then Local Host Table...???

thanks...........
