I have seen many posts about people suddenly unable to browse to secure sites. We have a few machines that have this issue, others that work fine. I have not been able to identify any differences between theese configs.

We generally use IE6, but tried FireFox just in case - same problem which leads me to believe it is W2K sp4 with updates rather than the browser itself.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

maybe as a quick fix - we had the same problem, I got another user to logon or I logged on as administrator - waited and the page then downloaded and installed a ActiveX app, that fixed my problem.

But doesn't that negate what you’re trying to do? Isn't ActiveX to reason malware gets loaded in the first place?

Just a thought

I've noticed that sometimes this happens with a corrupt profile. Renaming the profile folder and logging on again created a new profile, and then I copied all the important files from the old profile to the new one. Once I did this, I didn't have the SSL failures anymore.

I know there are a lot of different reasons this problem can show up, and this just happened to fix mine after a bunch of other solutions didn't help.
