All,

We got IE 5.5 and Acrobat Reader 5 installed on a bunch of Ctx servers. When users access PDF files via Internet Explorer, the plug-in loads (of course) but is putting a 100% cpu load. I did expect an extra load on the server, but not this much... and users do get affected by this.

Anyone experiencing the same ? Solution ?

Thanks for any guidance

I had this exact problem, and found that it had to do with how we installed Reader. We went from Reader 4 to 5 by installing 5 and basically doing an "upgrade".

If this is the same situation you have, do the following:

Uninstall Reader completely, then reboot. Then, after reboot, re-install Reader 5. On computers that are still running 4, uninstall 4, reboot, install 5, reboot, then test.

I have somewhat a similar issue but when regular domain users try to open up pdf files from the internet(6.0), the acrobat reader loads and then indicates that it is done, but the pdf file does not come to view.

They have to first save the target link to our system and then browse to it to get it to open. The only persons who can open up pdf files directly from internet links are administrators. This would leave me to believe that this may be a security issue but don't have any ideas on where to start.

Turn off the plug-in. It is notorious for having problems. Have files open in the regular reader when clicked on.
