Having recently upgraded to IE7 I discovered that I cannot gain full ftp access to my godaddy based account directly from the browser (ftp:// etc > username, password, etc.)

I do gain read access, but can neither download nor upload files for revision, but see only the root file list.

I am able to access the full ftp from RUN (RUN IE chefspro@ftp://etc ). I guess that works, since I only use IE for FTP.

I have spoken with support who first opined it was the lack of a strong password (Alqueda figure they can topple the free world with a list of chefs' jobs? Please be my guest). Not the case. I am guessing it is permissions, but they seem to be sep appropriately.

By the way, I can't access my ftp account for update through Firefox, either. If I could, I'd get IE off the deaktop. Is there alternately any wisdom on getting it to function?

FTP built into IE7 has changed behavior some. I could point you to a bunch of steps, but ultimately you'll end up at Windows Explorer. So with that in mind, just use Windows Explorer to begin with - open My Computer & in the address bar just type your ftp server address. Then (if not automatically prompted) File, Login As...

well, that's what worked so far. Thanks. Maybe IE6.
