Hello,
We are running IE7 on an XP Pro SP2 machine. IE7 has been working just fine on this machine for months. When the user came in today, IE7 started crashing. No updates or system changes were made to this machine (windows update is also turned off).
When you open IE7, it immediately returns the error "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close". This also happens when trying to open IE7 without the add-ons. The homepage is not even displayed.
In the error details, IERTUTIL.DLL is mentioned as the ModName. The event log does not offer any specific reason for the crash.
We tried uninstalling IE7, and reinstalling it, to no avail. Tried setting the homepage to blank, and also restarted several times.
Google toolbar is not installed on this machine.
Please help!
Thanks!
