..or am I missing something.
Won't FTP (Must use run command..I have that as a separate topic).
Level of security irritating. For one thing, haveing to "enable" the option of <i>Do NOT check for certificate</i> seems self serving.
I keep changing the default search engine to Google, and IE keeps reverting to the far less effective Microsoft Search.

Is there anything to love about this upgrade? Tabs I have in Firefox.

1st one- we'll discuss in the other thread
2nd one- please clarify what you mean

3rd one- simply selecting a different search provider does not make it the default. Using the drop down list, choose 'Change Search Defaults'. From the dialog that opens, choose the one you want then the 'Set Default' button.

Thanks for the response on FTP. Pretty much what I thought.

Actually, I used the drop down list. It keeps reverting to the MS agaent.

As for NR2, Every site I visit brings up the warning page: this site does not have an updated certificate - requiring choosing to go to the page despite warning. Not fun.

The way to turn this off (I discovered after several trys) is to enable the security option "Don't check for certificates". Annoyance only, but obviously meant to confuse (and promote MS security certificates?).

IE 6 is definitely an option.

Once set using the set default button, the default search provider should stick.

You should only get the certificate warning on sites with invalid security certificates. Are you saying that you get this warning for every site that you visit?

It may have missed some, but this is one of the sites receiving a warning. So is my own web site. Trying to get into my FTP was a comedy of errors. Every time I went to log on it warned me. I kept reading the warning as a "can't find site" message and shutting the *& (*^ thing down, then starting anew. Not really a fan right now.

That's not right. There shouldn't be any certificate assosciated with this or any other non-secure site. Try resetting IE7 -> Tools, Internet Options, Advanced tab, Reset button.

i do not use the FTP function (seperate program instead) but i have not experienced any of these problems once i took a few minutes to set up IE7.

like anything new or different than what you are used to - there may be percieved annoyances.

IE7 is not perfect but i have found it to be very usable once set up. the only complaint i have is the lack of CSS compatability.

I thought it had css..or is that rss.
Resetting it reinstates the certificate warnings. I think I want to see about setting it up for FTP/.

As for search engine, I've set Google as default twice and it keeps reverting. This is actually not much of an issue, as Firefox is my default browser. It's the warnings that are driving me up a tree.
