i don't want ie to show the user and password in the url when I'm going to a link like:

user:password@adress !

is there any option to trigger this ?

thanks

Not sure what you mean. Remove the user & password from the URL.? You should then be prompted for a username & password.

use % style

for each letter in the username and password, change each lettter to its hex eqivalent e.g. a becomes %61, b is %62

username:password becomes

%75%73%65%72%6E%61%6D%65:%70%61%73%73%77%6F%72%64

looks horrible, but hides username and password from casual browsing - also be sure to change the status bar text, so it cannot be read in the status bar

Great tip ! I'll use the hex-style as additional security !

After installing ie sp1 the explorer doesn't show the username and password anymore(even when typed in url-line [after pressing enter]) !!!

Thanks !
