We are running into a problem wherein after performing WindowsUpdate on Gateway 2000 E3400 1000MHz machines (Pentium III, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD), including IE 6 SP1, on these machines running Windows NT 4.0 SP6a - that when the user runs Internet Explorer, even after having shut down the browser, iexplore.exe remains active in "processes" under task manager. Upon attempting to shut down the machine normally, one is advised that "iexplore" is still running. If you choose to "end task" and then try to shut down again, the machine hangs - mouse pointer becomes an hourglass that will still move around, but that's it. Attempting to "end task" on Iexplore.exe while in processes also freezes up the machine. This is consistent across all machines such as those described above. I would appreciate any help you may have to offer. Thanks, MWHarden

I just found your post. I have been researching this same problem on an NT 4 machine. I have reinstalled IE, spak6 etc. No luck. and not much on microsoft's web site.
