My internet explorer is having numerous problems. I am unable to access the windowsupdate site at all if I put in the URL nothing happens? Also getting various strange things happening when I go to different sites etc. My question is can I removed IE6 completely and do a fresh installation? I am using Windows XP OS but can not find a way to remove the browers and reinstall it. Any help would be appreciated.

You are flirting with disaster trying to remove it from XP.

Also getting various strange things happening
...could you be more specific. What strange things?

Odds are, this is a relatively easy fix if you can lay everything out in the light.

Well if I click on windows update or try to put in the URL it appears to be clocking but just comes up with a blank page and says done but nothing is displayed on the page. Then if I try to look at the history files the window opens on the side of the browser as well and its blank too nothing is displayed for the history. So basically I can not get to windows update at all or view history files.

What about other web pages? Are you able to mainly surf normally? Do you have problems with secure sites?

Initially, try clearing your Temporary Internet Files (Tools > Internet options > Delete files under Temporary internet files)

No seems there is no difference just random sites will not work or will not display correctly plus history file will not display at all just grayed out on the left hand side of the screen. Plus I have defaulted all the settings back to default for the browser no effect at all.

Sounds a bit like Blaster or MyDoom variant. Is your virus scanning engine up to date? Try this link to McAfee's Stinger program. It detects about 40 of the latest virus threats.

Help! I've fallen and I can't reach my beer.
