I have a PC on Win98, running IE6. When trying to connect to the Internet, the modem does all the normal stuff, dials out and connects. However, I get an error instead of the home page of Blueyounder. The message reads:

"403 Forbidden. You were deined access because:

Access was denied by access control list."

Please can anyone suggest how to get around this. I have tried detect and repair and eventually tried removing IE6 and reinstalling it, all to no avail. The ISP have said that everything is correct at their end and I don't know what else to do.
Please help!!

Can you get to any other web sites, Yahoo, Google, whatever?

Yes, are you able to hit any other sites?
If this error is persistent, you may have a corrupt connection to your ISP which can be remedied by simply deleting it and recreating it.

Thanks to you both for your replies. I am unable to connect to any sites at all. Can you advise where on the control Panel I would disconnect the connection to the ISP? Thanks again,

My Computer > Dial-up Networking > Delete Connection to your ISP found here.
Reboot for good measure.
Recreate new connection in the same place.

Tried deleting and re-creating the ISP connection as you advised. Im afraid it did not have any effect. Still getting the error. Tried pinging the server and was able to do this so the connection is being made, its just the browser will not work!!! AAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!
Is anyone able to advise what the difference between Win98 and Win98 SE, as it states on the ISP CD that Win98 SE is the minimum requirement. Perhaps this is the problem!!???

IE6 was not made for win98 is was made for xp, When you receive the service packs for IE6 it will start to have problems connecting. You can get more information from support/knowledge database concerning this or you will have to uninstall IE6 and stay on IE5.5.
