I have run Adaware and SpybotS&D and haven't found anything.

WinXP, IE 6 platform. Every morning when I start the machine and launch my browser, I receive a popup from "zedo.com" followed by another in about 15 seconds. I close them as they arise and they stop.

These popups do not arise from my home-page and I cannot find any spyware that launches them.

THEY ONLY come up once a day, in the mornings when I start working. If I close and restart the browser or reboot the laptop during the day, the popups DO NOT launch. They appear again at the start of the next day.

If I DO NOT start IE in the morning (I've tested) the popups do not open - network connected or not. But, when I finally start the browser, BAM, popups.

I haven't a clue where to go track these down. I don't know if this is something lurking in the browser, as spyware, or in the Windows scheduler (which doesn't show any tasks scheduled at all).

Help appreciated, sorry for the long post.

Try my quick fix of the month: download, update the definitions, and see if it cures the issue, my "antispyware trial of the month: http:\\
If that resolves the issue, then fine. Otherwise, see the manual methods described in faq608-4650

Sure sounds like spyware to me! One, make sure you have updated both applications with latest detection rules.

Second, may be time to buy a more thorough program, both pestpatrol and spysweeper are nice, I prefer pestpatrol. You can get free trials that will scan your system, and tell you if anything is there. I think both can be had from Bazooka scanner is another freeware that can tell you if certain bugs are there, and redirects you to web docs that help with removal. Cwshredder is a good tool for searching out coolweb.

Good luck.

The Giant spyware detection found the "Fastfind" spyware in the system. Curious, the other two didn't. Thanks for the tip on an excellent product!
