IE 6.0 on XP Pro WON'T LOAD UNLESS I PRESS F5 1

hello all, I'm having a problem with IE 6.0 on my xp pro machine.

When I first open the browser it works great but the momment I press on a link the page "Looks" like it's going to load but it does not unless I press "ESCAPE" then "F5" and the page load normally. Can someone advise me as to what could be the problem?? Thanks
