I don't know what happened, but until recently I have been able to click on an mp3 link and media player would open and play the file, but now, when I click on an mp3 link, ie asks if I want to open, save or cancel the download, how can I get it back so that the media player 9 series would open and play the file?

This seems like a file association issue. What version of Windows are you using?

In IE, click Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced tab.
Near the bottom, under multimedia, uncheck "Don't Display online media in the content bar."

search66........I'm using WinXP pro, the file association for mp3 files is set to windows media player, and shows the player icon on mp3 files locally, I checked the association by opening the control panel then selecting 'folder options->file types' then scrolling to mp3.

Xemus........I tried the setting you suggested, it's still the same, whenever I click on an mp3 file IE asks if I wand to download or save.
