When using IE 6.0 I regularly have problems linking to options within a web page ie; I will click on a link and I get this sound and a quick flash (like a page is trying to load) on my screen, but nothing happens. I suspect it is a java error, but have not been able to trace it. It doesn't happen all of the time, and the link always works in Netscape.

A long shot..
Are you using KIllad (it accompanies closing a window with an audible event) or another ad/popup buster?
When enabled they prevent new windows based on their attributes as you have defined them, ie..automatic close anything less than 400 x 600, etc..
Check you systray first, then see if one is running silently.
