IE 5 Overflow on desktop

When I open IE5 sometimes icons or part of the page that is open spills over onto the desktop and when I close IE5 these overspills remain until an open window is moved over them and then they disappear. Clearing the history or temporaty files does not appear to prevent this from happening. This, strangely enough, only happens from time to time and on the same machines.
Any advice would be appreciated.
