Any idea where to download the actual SP2 update for IE 5.5? I'm looking for the actual file, not the setup.exe that downloads and then reconnects to the network to complete it. Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Sorry, Microsoft seem to be keeping close tabs on this one, I haven't even come across it on a CD. I'd be real interested if you do find a source.

Hi Gandalf29

Thanks for the link, unfortunately that looks like the full installation of IE5.5, whereas we are looking for the full installation of Service Pack 2 for IE5.5 :-(

Good place to look for downloads though.

Is there not a folder on the C: drive called Windows update setup files? or is this just Win2K? I cant remember if Win98 has this folder or not. I dont have a 98 machine in front of me. James Collins

Hi James,

Yes there is, but I can't find any cabs that seem relevent to the sp2 download, am I missing something?

I am not sure on this, but I think the SP2 down load just replaces the existing cab files with the newer ones. Essentially the SP2 download is the entire version, except the downloaded files are the one you wish to update. I cant tests that now for I do not have a Win98 machine at home. James Collins

I just tried running the setup program and it informed me the most up to date versions were already installed, so since I have sp2 installed it looks like you're right.

Thanks, it had never occured to me :p

No problem. I was not 100% sure. James Collins
