IE 5.5 Service Pack 2::Browser displays code now,NOT webpage!

Please help Dear old Dad out with any resolve for this problem. Internet Explorer 5.5, after applying Service Pack Update 2, has caused the Operating system folders and Explorer to display everything as 'source code' and not as webpages. Something has killed the translator. Does anyone know the resolve? Thanks.
