IDR with external HDD

We are running Backup EXC 10D and trying to test the IDR feature. When restoring to a new server (SBS2003), there is no option to select a external hard disk that the backup was done on. Does anybody know if this is possible or does it have to be restored from a tape?

YEs required tape. Backup Exec 11d you can use backup to disk or tape. IDR in 11d adds usb support to see the usb drive. If its usb controller that cant get detect the you can attach the usb drive to a workstation and attach to it in the 11d idr wizard
