I am using Novell 5.1 (SP 7) and Backup Exec V9, and am trying to build a hot backup/swap system for a live server. I have produced an Intellegent Disaster recovery CD and a full backup on tape. The IDR CD seems to boot OK, and Backup Exec seems to work OK. The schema appears to restore properly, but when I try to restore the Server Specific Info ($Server.Novell Directory/Tree/[.root]) I have to give redirection values. I select the "Netware File System" as the "device" but what value do I put in the path? Every thing I have tried gives an "Insufficient privilege" error.

I don't believe that the server Specific info should go into the File System... it's an NDS thing and you should have a separate entry for the Tree info.

Is this the only server in the tree? Generally if you have at least 2 (recommended 3) servers, you don't worry as much about Disaster Recovery of NDS because it is already replicated to the other servers.

Thanks for your reply.
This is the only server in the tree.
When I try to select "Agent $Server Novell Directory" as the restore destination I get an error -
"No restore destination is available on this device for user $User. You may not have sufficient rights to restore data to this device
