Hello,
if i use IDR to restore my server, i thought that the partitions would automically be restored.
Here is my problem:
Server is down cause HD is dead, all Data is lost. The HD must be replaced. The old HD had 2 partitions (2GB, 18GB, all NTFS)
So in fact there are none Partitions on the new Harddisk defined yet. I create only one partition (2GB FAT ) and format it. Then i start the restore with IDR. Later the Installer tells me, that IDR could not restore on smaller partitions and only restores C:

My Question: What do i have to do, to let IDR automatically partition my system without doing all partitions by myself ?

Thanks for any hints.
Bernd

System: BackupExec 8.6, IDR Option, W2K Server SP2
System i want to restore (remote): Windows NT Server 4.0, SP5

hi dagfinnc,

yes, i have read the two doc´s. since they discribe how to restore only ONE partition, it doesn´t help me very much cause 1 partition is not the problem.
i contacted veritas support by phone, but this is bad. i don´t want to wait 1 hour on the phone.

thanks for your reply!

Hi there - just in case you're still having this problem, IDR will not automatically do the partitions for you - you get the chance to set up the partitions twice during the idr process, and you need to set them up to either the same size as they were before or larger.

If you're only setting up the one partition then the backup of the second one has no target to try to restore to, and as 0GB is a lot less than 18GB, that'll probably be why you're getting this error message.

Hi!
That´s it, weakpun ? Puh, i guess i checked the idr option with be 8.5 and this version could restore the whole partition data... ok, if i have to create the partitions on my own, i really ask me if it´s possible to do this automatically.
