We are in the process of moving from client server oracle forms to web based forms. In the past we have captured the osuser and machine from v$session for audit purposes. Using the web based forms all the osusers and machines show up in v$session only as the form servers like formserver/formserver$ -- machine/user. Does anybody know of any way in the web based environment (App Server 10g, 9.0.4) that we can determine the ACTUAL osuser and machine name? Does the app server capture that kind of info on "incoming" sessions?

thanks for any suggestions

There is no way. Web based applications use a "connection pool" to service the user requests.

On the Application Server middle-tier you may find "access" logs under ~/Apache/Apache/logs/ but these may be innacurate also if you are using "Web Cache".
