identify identity column

we are using ado and getting a recordset and looping through all the fierlds
is there a way i can see if one of these fields is the identity column?

Can you make use of the syscolumns system table and use this to determine which field within a given table structure is the 'identity' field ?
Maybe this would be the way to go ?
