Identify calling number gadget

I remember having a gadget long ago that could be connected to an analog port. With this gadget, I could go to another analog phone and call the DN of the gadget which would auto answer the call and give audio feedback as to the number of the phone I was calling from. Is anyone familiar with this gadget and know what it is called? I'm trying to locate one.

Actually, I was talking to a guy who said a company called DTI had a device that connected to a digital port. Still not sure what it is called.

If you have to call this gadget to get the number how do you call it if you dont know the number? I just use an analog test set and call my mobile, or just a digital set and cal my mobile if its a digital line

If it was connected to a digital port it would have been vendor specific. Why not just set up a CallPilot voice mailbox, call it and leave a short message. Then call back in for your message and have it read the number back to you?

The DTI box was simply called a Test Phone. They haven't made them for a long time.
Wanebo's method will work as long as the DN doesn't have a Personal Verification recorded. Then you will hear the recording instead of the DN.
If you have Contact Center Server integrated with CallPilot then you can create a small script that will read back your number.

I just wanted to know what it was called. I have a better idea. I am only trying ti ID internal number at analog phone jacks. I will build and carry a spectralink wireless phone and call it.
