Hello,
I recently purchased a 6x16 cabinet but I am not sure how to tell if it is a DS or not. The numbers on the label are NT5B01.

I ask this because I want to have a VM installed and when I installed a DS DR5 software cartridge the system would not come up. It does however come up when I reinstall the cartridge that it came with.

Info on the other cartridge is REL02, NT5B10DC

Thanks

Sorry,
You have a non-DS cabinet.
Also, your software that came with it is non-DS.
The 2 cartridges are not interchangeable. A DS cabinet will say DS in thr front, and have green printing on it, like the green printing on the DS cartridge.

Hi,
With the 6x16 the DS DR5 SW cartridge must go in a DS cabinet. From memory the cabinet may or may not have a DS printed in the top right hand corner of the label inside, but if the label is a taupe like colour then it should be a DS cabinet. If the label is grey coloured then it is not a DS cabinet and would require a non DS software cartridge.

That is likely why the 6x16 would not come up.

Hope this helps,

Rob

Thanks for the replies. So if I understand this the letters DS "should" be on the cabinet somewhere?

Is it possible to make the VM work with a non-ds cabinet.

It will still work, but not very pretty. When callers hang up after leaving a message, or in fact without leaving a message, the voicemail will not see the disconnect, and continue to record for about 15 seconds. You will get messages that all you hear is the person hanging up.
You could get by. They all used to be that way.

What voicemail are you going to put on it?

Marv,
I have two units a star talk flash and a star talk flash - 2 channel. Both have 2.0 software cards and now I am being told that there may be software compatibility issues. I am being told that I need 1.9 or lower.
Any Idea?

The chart says <1.35 , but ?????
And a footnote says: Minimum Release of 6x16 NT5B10CF
Rls 02 E/F or NT5B10DF Rls 02 E/S
So I guess the chart is saying less than 1.35, but ????
They don't say what function doesn't function.

VPNing,
We have had similar concerns in our company. After much checking, regardless of what the charts say, and Marv0 Said It accurately, we have generally found that as long as your Flash release is higher than your KSU release, you are OK. But after all, if a glitch is noticed you have a new Flash release so a downgrade to an older card should put cash in your pocket.
This is for Flash only. Not to be confused with NAMs and old Star Talks.

Cheers
PhM
