Hi guys,

I have a weird issue, alot of the PC's on the network are named with the same convention, ie. comp1234, comp1235, etc. I need to find a solution to identify which PC belongs to which department, which I think I will do by changing the computer description field? Visiting each PC physically is not an option as there are over 2000!!
Has anybody had a problem with this before? If so, how did you get round it?
Eventually I want to create collections based on the computer location, for SW deployment, patch management, etc.

Thanks for any tips!!

Would changing the computer description in AD be good enough? That can be done with vbscript, but I'm not sure how to change the description stored locally on each PC. I'm pretty sure that can't be done with vbscript...I could be wrong.

-If it ain't broke, break it and make it better.
