Hi, is it possible to build an RAID with IDE drives? I have 8 2GB drives, i would like to take 4 of them and build a RAID 5. Is it possible or do i need SCSI drives?

-Thanks

You will need to get an IDE RAID Controller to do this but it will work. It would be a waste of space and money to build a RAID set with only 2gb drives (IMHO)...

You can go to the listed link below to find out more info

Be aware, it will all depend on the type of IDE interface the drives are capable of.

Thanks for the quick answer. The IDE drive where given to me … and I wasn’t sure what to do with theme, I was thinking of building a software RAID … that way it wont cost me a dime.

Anyway I’m doing this just to see what it would look like … I know it have no practical use.

Thanks again,
Cheer
