I have a mobo that has 4 sata slots and only 1 ide slot. i need the ide for my 2 cd drives correct? I have 1 sata hardrive and 1 ide hardrive. i would like to run them both with my mobo but is that possible if i have my cd drives connected and only 1 ide slot? or would i be able to connect 1 cd drive and the ide hd? Also if none of this is possible are there any sata attachments for a ide drive?

You could connect your hard drive to something like a Promise controller card. This card plugs into a PCI slot on the motherboard, and usually offers 2 IDE interfaces.

The only thing with the sata to ide convertor is that you only get the ide speed, course with a promise controller thats all you get as well.
Can i make a suggestion? If you have an available extra pci slot you might want to go that way as i do believe you can get the controller card cheaper, especially used from people who have moved to sata, and the controller card gives you, usually, 4 ide slots, whereas the sata to ide convertor only gives you the one and it usually is more money, at least last time i looked. Could be different now, its been a while.
But, again, you should be able to buy a used pci promise controller for about $15 or less.
