While working on a 500 mhz generic system I found IDE Controller problems. The current IDE Controller is located on the motherboard. I was wondering if a IDE Controller card can be installed to replace the one on the motherboard.

The one on the mobo should work fine, but it's always a good idea to invest in an IDE controller card to give yourself more IDE channels (2 to 4).

I always hear good things about Promise ATA/100 controller cards. It will only take an extra PCI slot on your mobo to install. Check out for the best prices.
