IDE CD hangs on AIX 5.2

Machine: IBM,7028-6E4
CD drive:
# lsdev -Cside
cd0 Available 1G-19-00 IDE CD-ROM Drive I (650 MB)

The CD is mounted normally but hungs on cp process.
The CD is the same very CD that is successfully used on the same machine for the initial installation.
It mounts OK and system shows the content of disk.
The copy hangs after certain amount of files are copied from CD to hdisk:

Process can not be killed by 'kill' command !
