I am having real trouble with my IDE cables i put them in the CDROM and the Re-writer drive and none will work my PC boots up but none of the drives open. There is power becuase when i boot up the lights go on but they won't open. I bought some new ones but that didn't help. I got a new power supply but that didn't work. I took out the IDE cables of my mates and they work. So i thought it could just be the faulty cables. Nut i got three new paris all form different shops and none of these worked please help.

These devices are plugged into a port on the motherboard, right?

You could get a 98 boot disk, take the hard drives from the primary channel and plug the Cd in. Bootup may find the CD at the primary cannel. If so , the secondary channel is not working.
Or you could try the drives one at a time and see if there is an addressing issue.
And does the BIOS detect them on bootup? Ed Fair
