howdy folks! I've been doing telecom related stuff for about 16 years, but have only been able to afford a small amount of formal training (most of my employers required me to 'figure it out myself').

I've finally managed to buy myself a small Option switch, and I think it's an 11? mini, but I'm not sure. I'm looking for help identifying the system so I know what I'm actually working with, and also some pointers if people are willing.

I've got a password for the system, but I don't think it's a 'level 2' password. I also don't have a password to voicemail. I'm open to resetting everything to scratch if that makes it easier. I've got a copy of MERL for Generic x11 Release 23 North American but get lost very quickly unless I'm looking for something specific (like programming auth codes or resetting T1's in ld60)

Some of the log refers to an ethernet port--can this be adinistered via a network connection?

Are T1 cards available for a switch like this?

If I don't have PCMCIA cards, can I take the system back to 'default'?

Can the Meridian Mail be taken back to default?

Are these cabinets supposed to be wall mountable?

Where would you suggest I start? (I don't have money to hire a vendor or fly myself to and pay for training, but I'm a quick learner and I can read the manuals if I know where to start....)

thanks!

look at the install side of your merls, you'll need the level 2 pwd as well as mail passwords and the cheapest way to recover is a new install

the ethernet port is used for otm admin, not very good software for learning a new switch.

yes. you can buy tmdi cards with clock and dch daughter boards for the opt ll, as well as t1.

you don't need the pcmcia card for the install, upgrades and backups. what you do need is the keycodes.

and yes 95 percent of opt 11's i've seen were wall mounted, they come with a metal bracket with a simple tab that fits into the center slot on the back of the cab.

anything nortel made can be taken back to factory default..

if you have the system up, does mail answer? the default for mail in older 11's was 7000 or 700. but in ld 32, stat 10.. those should be the voice mail ports, built as acd sets.

Is there a way to get the keycodes without the level 2 passwords? I think the keycode for MM is on a stick on the front of the first cabinet. Sounds like I could end up in a catch22 to do the new install tho. I don't have any digital sets to connect to it, and I haven't bought cable and punchdown blocks to fanout for the MDF yet.

thanks!!!

you'll see groups of 4 or 5 digits

AE41H 23RNJ

maybe twenty total, should be a sticker or a sheet and no without the level 2, or $ and a call to nortel your stuck. a meridian without the right to use (via nortel) is a orphan. nortel will not touch it or help. the default level 2 for that rls was 0000, if it ever connected to a modem it was normally changed.

If this is an 11C or compact. In LD 22 at the REQ enter SLT. This will give you license information and, in older releases unsure in 2.0, the keycodes were printed at the bottom.
