I've been tasked with creating a query or Crystal report to identify items that should be considered for obsolescence. The criteria that has been tossed around is to identify items that have had no transactions (issues, receipts, orders) for the last six months. My thoughts are to initially query against imitmidx_sql and iminvtrx_sql. I may later add iminvhst_sql and iminvloc_sql for some quantity_on_hand detail.

I think on on the right track and realize that there are a lot of variables (in terms of the query) to tackle moving forward.

I'm wondering if this has been done, or how other Macola users identify items for obsolescence. Also, if my thoughts above are off base, I'd appreciate a kick in the right direction.

I think you are on the right track, but there are many, many roads that you can take. With 40 some clients there are probably 38 different methods to determine obsolescence.

You might think about going back to last year roll, not sure what problems you may find/cause in Year to Date based reports?

IMINVTRX is the key, IMO. The IMINVHST does not even get written to unless you perform certain month ed processes. From this table you should be able to come up with your own parameters for obsolete/slow moving inventory.

Remember there activity flag on the item master which can be set to O-obsolete as well.
