Hi

I am having problems using ICS on my wireless network, the main PC is connected to a broadband connection (ntl) and the other PC's are set to use this for ICS.

The main PC is running Win XP home, 1 laptop is also Win XP home, 2 PC's are Win 98ME and last laptop is Win ME. I can browse the network on all but the Win ME laptop (this has another network connection for work which I think causes it not to use the home network) but none can connect to the internet.

Does anyone know what I could be missing? or know of a site with good instructions on setting up a wireless ICS network? Not sure about the router option yet....

Thanks in advance

what type of router do you have?

I'm sure there is a good logical explanation for this problem.. but just keep in mind, that if you do everything you can think of and you still can't fix this problem.. upgrade the ME machine.. ME's networking was ungodly crappy. VERY buggy.

Have you made sure all the machine are setup for to obtain the IP address from the main machine. I believe this a require of Windows ICS. Check the TCP/IP properties.

Best Regards

Andrew.

yes ICS does use NAT there for in order to use this you would need to set the router to use DHCP. but there are always exceptions to that. what kind of router? how is it connected? and above all, most routers have broadband support so why use ICS? "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

Sorry did not explain properly, I don't actually have a router. Can't really afford one at the moment, but if I can't sort things with ICS then would look into buying a router.

no you don't have to get a router. let me just paste a few links in instead of trying to explain. you should have no problems with just wireless cards, here are a couple of good articles. ICS uses NAT (192.168.*.*) that allows the host pc to act as a router

hope they help! "Jack of all trades. Master of none."
