Hi there!

I have 2 pc's directly networked using win98SE. For months it had been working great until last night. My 2nd machine suddenly came up with the blue screen of death a few times and since then I can access the network back and forth but the 2nd machine cannot access the web. I've tried reinstalling ICS, even reinstalling windows on the 2nd pc, but no luck. The 2nd pc has:

Client for MS Networks
The network adapter
TCP/IP
File Sharing

I can ping each pc from the other. I'm at a loss here. Any ideas?

Thanks!

now dont try to slap me if this doesnt work because im a dumbshit when it comes to networking, but i was having the same problem and this is what i did and now it works fine ......
right click network neighborhood on your host computers desktop and go to properties , click the add button , double click protocol , highlight microsoft , scroll down untill you see NetBEUI and double click it ( you may get prompted for your win98 cd) after all is done restart the computer .
go to the client computer and open internet explorer you should get a page that says "page can not be found" look for the link about 2/3 down the page that says Detect Network Settings click it , wait till it is done , close IE and reopen it

like i said im not sure it will work for you but it did for me .... good luck
