Hello,
I have a two-machine TCP/IP network with my roommate. My computer runs Win98SE, the other PC runs Win95. A 3rd party ICS is installed on my PC (I tried ComSocks and Sygate but the same problem arose). The network is set up with fixed IP addresses, ie. no DHCP. DNS and Router are set to 192.168.0.1, the address of my computer, on the client.
(The local network runs OK.)
When I connect to the Internet, the client can use POP3 e-mail, ICQ, ping, and browse, but cannot browse some specific sites from IE5.5: browsing stops at "Opening site..." (one such site is Testing if it's an IE problem we installed Opera on the client - and it would never get past the stage "Looking up..." for any site at all. :-I Looks like a DNS problem, but everything is supposed to be set correctly. The ICS server machine works fine. The funny thing is, the client worked correctly before reinstalling Win95...:-0
Any ideas what might be misconfigured on the client? (or maybe on the server? ) Please don't tell me to reinstall Win95 again X-)
Thanks, Attila
