Hi,
I've been noticing that sometimes when I create a website via VI, when I look in IIS Console, I see a 'gear' icon for the site (all sites I create here are under the 'Default Web'). But sometimes it's a standard 'Folder' icon.

What is the difference? I create using the exact same options, and they're always under the default website 'globe' icon, Master mode, etc, etc. This is IIS 6 on Win2K3 Std.
Thanks,
--Jim

the difference is...you see gear icon only when you click on "create" button in the properties window...now when you do this...you can access this website from any computer on your intranet...

but if you see a folder you cannot access this webpage...try it out and check...

so to access the website you created...you need to click "create" button in the properties window and this changes the folder icon to gear icon...

DNG,
Thanks, that showed the gear icon. However I've never done that before (used the 'create' option in Properties), yet other sites I've created have the gear icon. Is there something in VI that may do the same that maybe I'm doing for those other sites? Thanks,

ya...i think for Windows Server 2003, you need to explicitly click on "create" button to show up the gear...
