Looking for an explanation on why my ping to 172.1.123.2 comes back with !.!.!

NewYork#ping 172.1.123.2

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 172.1.123.2, timeout is 2 seconds:
!.!.!
Success rate is 60 percent (3/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 128/129/132 ms

It could be many things. Give us a layout of your network including IP addresses.

I hate all Uppercase... I don't want my groups to seem angry at me all the time! =)

Thanks. I figured out the issue. I configured two sub-interfaces as multi-point on different routers. My frame switch was a little confused.
