I'm having some serious issues with ICH 7 USB on 4 computers... They all have the same USB controller and it seems that the drivers are wrong on all of them.

I had a similar issue with a laptop with a different controller recently, i'm not sure if it's related but it happen after some windows update.

Long story short, every-time I plug anything else than a mouse or a keyboard it says : "Unknown device"

...

I tried to uninstall the usb drivers and let windows install the generic ones,

I tried to install the driver with INF autoinstall from Intel.

I tried the OEM motherboard company driver.

...

nothing worked

any Idea ?

Thanks

Link According to the Intel .pdf document in the link, a lot of USB issues with that chipset are either fixed with a BIOS upgrade, A workaround as per doc. or in some cases, it's a design flaw of the board, (look at problem 24) and their is no workaround nor a fix.

Turned out the problem was with the USB KVM I was using... Unplugged it uninstalled the usb2 controler, it reinstalled itself and everything worked fine...It did that problem only on the gigabyte ga-g41m-es2h all the other computer with the same G41 Chipset worked.
